Nice to meet you, i’m LAURA
Working with students and teaching math is one of my deep passions! I am a firm believer that everyone is capable of learning, and I enjoy finding ways to help students arrive to their “ah-ha” moments. Math concepts can be overwhelming, but I believe there are ways to make the content easier to comprehend once a student’s learning style is discovered. It’s not, “how smart are you?” But rather, “how are you smart?”
Ever since the seventh grade, when I started peer tutoring other students in my class, I knew I had a gift and a passion for teaching. With this passion, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in education. In 2008, I started my teaching journey as a double major in Mathematics and Secondary Education. As a freshman in college, I immediately began tutoring for local high school math students. As a sophomore, I began tutoring through my university’s academic center, assisting nearly 20 students a semester. Since graduating college, I have been tutoring middle and high school math, coaching students while studying for standardized tests, and coaching students who participate in a nationwide math competition. In addition I began teaching various levels of math courses as a high school math teacher, helping students of all levels succeed!

Academic Accomplishments: Near perfect score on SAT Math, Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts and Sciences in Secondary Education and Mathematics
